Location: Christmas Island

After days of being tossed around by the ocean, we finally made it to Christmas Island!

The passage here was crazy, to say the least. The waves were nonstop, the wind had a mind of its own, and the motion definitely tested everyone’s sea legs. There were moments when the boat felt like a roller coaster. People were queasy, a few were knocked out with seasickness, and the rest of us were just trying to keep spirits high and stomachs steady. But even through all of that, there was this unspoken sense of teamwork holding us together.

There’s something about being on the same boat (literally) that bonds you fast. When you’re on watch in the middle of the night, bow watch in full force, and waves are toppling over the bow, drenching you from head to toe, you just have to laugh. The ocean humbles you real quick, but it also reminds you how alive you are.
Dinner that night tasted extra amazing. Maybe it was the exhaustion, maybe it was the salt in the air, or maybe just the fact that we made it. We all gathered around, laughing about the chaos of the past few days, grateful to finally be anchored and steady.
My question of the day was:
“If you could share one piece of advice with everyone, what would it be?” The answers were beautiful. Everything from “be kind to yourself” to “don’t forget to look up at the stars.” It was one of those nights that made the whole journey worth it. So now I’ll pass that question to you, viewers, friends, and parents back home. If you had to share one piece of advice with us out here, what would it be?
