Today started off with a healthy breakfast of cereal and yogurt. We got our first full day of really nice weather, and started with our intro to Marine Biology class. After that we went turtle tagging and ended up catching five hawksbill turtles! Five time more than we expected. Giovanni, Nicole, Jessica, Tito and one that was already named, were tagged and released with no harm done. This project is in collaboration with the British Virgin Islands Conservation and Fisheries Department. We helped to monitor the threatened species of turtle by catching, tagging, measuring and recording data on them, before releasing them back where they were caught. Next we had lunch, which was fresh BLT’s and chips. After the cleanup the new divers went over PADI homework and then went diving. Meanwhile the already certified divers had their first checkout dive. Dinner was delicious Sheppard’s Pie by Chris and Graham. We watched a fish slide show by Beaker and finished the day with the first PADI quiz. Wicked fun day and beautiful weather.
