Location: Cocos Keeling
I started off the day with a startle from watch team 3. Watch team 3 was evil today. They woke us all up for our shifts dressed in Gumby suits and snorkels, whisper-yelling, WE GOTTA MOVE! Talking about it now, its pretty funny, but mind you, at the time, I thought the damn boat was sinking. It was without a doubt the fastest Ive ever been up for watch. After that excitement, we had a fun watch where we played 21 (million) questions again and again because were yet to come up with a better game to play. I was extremely proud when I stumped the group by making them guess Allegory of the Cave.
After laughs and boat checks and ramen, we made way too spicy, we woke up to the beautiful Cocos Keeling Islands with water so blue it looked like Gatorade. We were dying to jump in, but nope, boat appreciation time! Loud music from 3 different speakers and genres blasted over the jumble of sweeping, scrubbing, and sail covering. While Vera got to scrub the entire deck with a huge brush, Fin got to scrub the entire cabin floor with a toothbrush. Henry and I got to rearrange all of the Nutella and discovered a brand new source of heart disease called cookie crave spread, which we promptly got spoonfuls of. After covering all the sails (or as we say, putting the boat to sleep) and taking out all the scuba gear for the adventures of tomorrow, we finally had our first post passage swim in cartoonish-blue water. Kyler made us a delicious pasta dinner and is now even making us cookies (what a champ). Now were all hanging out in the salon and on deck, and I may or may not have painted one single toe bright purple with Scarlette, Hannah, and Henry. Pretty great day overall, and cant wait for tomorrow. By the way, to all family and friends, these islands have no cell towers and little to no chance of finding Wi-Fi, so theres a good chance of no communication until Mauritius, unfortunately. Hi Mom, hi Dad, hi Kyle, love you guys, tell Skye I miss her!
