Hello Blog readers! Welcome to the fall 2024 Mediterranean to Caribbean program blog! I think I can speak for the whole group and say that we are very glad that you’re here following along on this journey with us. We have the most epic, big, and beautiful journey ahead of us, and we can’t wait to keep you all in the loop and tell you all about it!
Today was arrivals day (as I’m sure you know). Once 12 pm hit, it was a mad rush of students arriving from that point all the way through the afternoon and into the evening. We have 24 students on board this semester! WOW! Everyone spent the afternoon talking amongst each other and getting to know one another. Mac was our head chef today, so he made us a yummy Italian pizza dinner. After dinner, Smash brought out the job wheel, and we all learned the jobs that will be involved this semester in keeping Miss Vela all nice, clean, and organized. We then had a Squeeze. For those that don’t know what squeeze is basically, we all hold hands and go around in a circle and say what our appreciation is for the day, and we answer the skipper of the day question that they get to come up with. Today, Smash chose the question. The question was simply, “Why are you here?” Everybody had great answers, such as “love of traveling,” “love for adventure,” and “I just love sailing.”
To all the families back home we are so happy to have your kids here with us. Everyone is eager and excited to be here, and we’re so excited to get this adventure started!
