This morning, we woke up to the smell of bacon and eggs cooked by Gigi, Oli, and Camille. The majority of us went to bed early last night, so we woke up ready to have an adventurous day. After dishes were clean and the boat was tidy, Gabe taught us everything we needed to know about VHF Radio. We learned about the different types of radios, channels, and specific language used on VHF. Then we made our dive kits and prepared for one of the most memorable dives yet.
Jacques Cousteau was a French naval officer, explorer, and environmentalist who revolutionized underwater exploration. He revolutionized scuba diving by inventing the Aqualung that let divers explore deeper and for longer. Today, we got the privilege to explore Cousteaus main dive site. Today was also the day that the new open water divers got to do a fun dive. For me, I got to use my underwater camera to capture the beauty under the water that I have been telling my family and friends about without picture evidence. From parrot fish to eels, the reef was so lively with schools of fish surrounding us as we passed. We headed back for lunch and were greeted with ramen that hit the spot after a long dive. We also got some free time to relax and catch up on work. After the second dive, Ignacio taught us about how wind and storms work within our atmosphere, and although we were tired from todays adventure, we learned a lot. Curry for dinner was amazing, again cooked by head chef Gigi, and then we headed to a bar in Guadalupe and played cards.
