Oh hey! Didn’t see you there! Welcome to the blog for day 16. Time is flying! Today was a slower day in terms of Ocean Star’s agenda, full of class, homework, and most importantly, diving. I am under unfortunate circumstances where diving is not one of the activities I can participate in; however, I was told about the many adventures that my friends had underwater. Starting the day with a Nav Master class, we continued to learn more about how we can use charts to our advantage. The group then went on quite an adventurous dive, from what I was told, and this time I was able to get homework and other classwork done. When my friends resurfaced, I was informed that there was a lot of sword fighting and swimming upside-down. Why, or even how, I could not tell you, but I can paint you a very dramatic picture. In my head, the two instructors leading the dive, Zoe and Gabe, took everyone 30 feet down, following the anchor chain down to the sand. Then, all of a sudden, maybe a huge bait ball came out of nowhere, stirring up the sandy bottom. No one can see anything; everyone is trying to reach for their buddy, and as the sand clears, Zoe and Gabe are both upside-down, waiving swords at each other, which happened to be fins off of their feet. Then, because everyone inevitably picks sides during a sword fight, the entire group is upside-down or sideways, even spinning in circles, all waiving swords with air bubbles flying everywhere. Maybe this happened, maybe it didn’t, but it is funny to think that all of my friends were clashing imaginary swords in hopes of passing the next certification level.

After continuing with another oceanography lecture from Ignacio, we all mustered for dinner with a surprise waiting for us. Gabe had planned a game for us to play while we ate. It was called the space game, and it is not recommended for those who do not like the sounds of yelling and chaos, as it requires voting off those who do not make it onto the ship, as the world is ending. We all had characters and traits we portrayed, stating why we would be of benefit to our new society on a different planet, with only seven seats available. I am not sure we would have survived with the characters that ended up in those seats, but thankfully, we will never know. Now ends another beautiful day on Ocean Star!

Shoutout to my family, all my friends, and all of my camels! Repping camel sailing all the way from Guadeloupe! Sending all my love and hugs MWAH 🙂
