Location: Saba
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. Perry here for my second and final blog of the program! Today was a great day full of diving and exploring around the towns of Saba. The day started with an early morning of getting dive gear on deck and ready to go, because Sea Saba (the local dive guides) were coming to pick us up at 8:30 to go on some dives! They arrived right on schedule, and took us straight to the dive sites. The first dive site was in Ladder Bay, and was a deep wall dive. A wall dive is a dive literally along a wall of reef, often over very deep sea. It went smoothly, and we saw lots of nice corals and fish. The second dive site we went to is called Hot Springs due to a pocket of geothermal activity heating up the sand, making it like a hot spring. We saw at least 5 sharks and 6 turtles on this dive, and it was easily the coolest dive of the program. After these amazing dives, we headed back to shore to pile into taxis to go to Windwardside. Windwardside is the name of the town at the top of Saba. We walked through coffee shops, gift shops, and grocery stores, enjoying the cool Saba climate. We hung out up there for a while until it was time to return to Ocean Star for some class and Dinner! Tomorrow we set sail for the BVIs, and I could not be more excited. Thanks for reading, Perry
