Location: Palau
Hello from Palau.
Today was a day full of diving for everyone!! Very fun and exciting. We woke up to some big winds and some rain and learned that there was a typhoon that was up by the Philippines that we were getting some storms from. It was nice to feel some chills for the first time. We moved the boat away from our pretty little cove just further out so that the winds wouldn’t drag us into the coral. As we ate our breakfast of bagels, we watched the rain come across the bay to transform our bagels from bagels to soggy bagels, but that’s okay, still yummy. THEN WE ADOPTED SEAN FOR THE DAY! Sean is a local guide who dove with us all day. After that, we cleaned up, and the first group of divers went out in a dinghy back to the cove to finish their last two dives before becoming open water certified. The open water students finished up their dives in the morning. They saw an eel, crabs, and many little fishies. While the first group of open water divers scuba’d away, the second group took a nap on deck. Everyone else chilled in the salon playing games, making bracelets, and started on schoolwork. The second group of open water students saw a medusa jellyfish – I think it was awesomesauce! Then we all ate a super yummy lunch of spring rolls. (made me think of you, mom :))
Then the cool cat-certified divers went out in 3 groups for their fun dives! They saw many cool things like the eel, sea cucumbers, and pretty starfish. Meanwhile, the open water peeps took their final exams in the afternoon, and THEY ALL PASSED!!!! Yippy kaiyaayy! Then came dinner, coconut rice, and pumpkin curry, also major yumsesh. Then we had to say goodbye to our new friend Sean, sad. But we loved having him. Now we just cleaned up and are now going to have our first official seamanship class. Then we start our third night of anchor watch. My shift is from 11:00 to 12:00, so I guess I have to stay up. But tomorrow there will be very good food because Preston and I are sous chefs. I hope you all have a great day and know we are having so much fun but still miss home 🙂
A shoutout, mom, dad, Anney, and dogs –> I’M A CERTIFIED DIVER!! I can’t wait to see a shark. squeeze the dogs for me, please! I love you all
