Howdy,
Everyone woke up to the Pina Colada Song! After a breakfast of eggs, we went down into the saloon for Marine Biology, learning about the different voyages, people, and technology that has led to modern-day Marine Biology. After class, we headed up to the deck to begin learning about knots, lines, and more. We learned how to tie the bowline, sheet bend, round turn with two half hitches, and most importantly, the Dragon bowline. After a quick lunch, we headed back down for another class, Oceanography! We learned about the different layers of the earth core, plate tectonics, and the ocean floor. Next on the agenda was Dinghy training. While some of us were training in the dinghy, the others were having some much need free time. I spent my time learning how to play the Ukulele as Lucia was nice enough to teach me. Others went up to do their laundry, which worked out poorly as we got hit by two 5 minute rainstorms. We still had fun dancing in the rain. After our deck showers, we got ready for dinner and the guest speaker, who was arriving soon with his son and some of his friends. Dinner was awesome as we had southwest chicken bowls and ended with a great squeeze question: “What is your favorite hike?” We had Ron Leidich give us an amazing presentation about the different lakes, sea creatures, and more in Palau. We all were in awe at the amazing stories and pictures we saw and heard! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings to us!
