What a great day! Today started earlier than usual with a 6:30 wake-up. We had breakfast and packed our backpacks to make it to the ferry in time to go to Pico, the island just across the water. There was a hilarious miscommunication, and we actually showed up at the ferry over an hour early, but it ended up being alright because we enjoyed coffee and pastries at a nearby caf. We then ended up on Pico at around 10:15 and took a nice bus ride up the mountain to the beginning of our beautiful hike. We hiked 8 km through fields, pastures, and a rocky forest. After watching Natalie trip over her own feet a few times, and everyone slipping and sliding down the rocky trail, we ate our packed lunch of bean burritos under the trees, and it was really beautiful. We continued the hike without any major injuries and popped out of the forest onto the street. We then got back on the bus and drove to some natural pools with a nice 3m jump into the ocean! Everyone was all smiles while cooling off from the hike. There was also a little caf across the street where some of us got some treats. All around, we had a great day exploring Pico, even if our feet hurt by the end! We got back to the boat with boxes upon boxes of pizza waiting for us! What a way to end the day. Can’t wait to start our next passage to Gibraltar tomorrow!
