Location: Underway to Tarragona
Hello! We were woken up this morning to the smell of fresh cinnamon buns made by Emy, special shoutout for the extra icing on top. Right from breakfast, we went straight into passage prep, where Hendo dropped the saltwater bucket, also used as the vomit bucket, overboard and impromptu jumped in to save it. After a quick passage prep, we left the port of, as Carolyn just told me, because I didn’t actually know where we took refuge from the storm, Antibes. The seas and wind were much calmer than they were two days prior, and we finally got to sail, well, the sails were up, but we got to motor sail! While underway, we jumped right into oceanography class and from there had a delicious lunch of, not sure what they were called but bowls with rice: tofu, veggies, and delicious spicy mayo. Personally, I cannot say I have ever eaten tofu outside of Seamester, but it was quite good. After cleanup with lots of music, we had a seamanship class where we learned more about charts. Allie and Matt thought that their PowerPoint transitions were very funny. My watch team had the 2 to 6 watch, which was one of my favorite watches yet. It flew by as we took personality tests and talked about Ash’s lactose intolerance. We are all getting more used to life on passage, and it has even become one of my favorite parts of the trip thus far. After a quick nap, some spicy uno, and a great dinner, we are all either going to bed preparing for our night watches or already on them. I have the 12-4 watch, so I am about to go to bed, but overall today was another awesome day, and we are all so excited to get to Barcelona. Supposedly we are going on a bike tour??? P.S. Totally forgot one of the big moments of today, which was when we accidentally sailed into French navy territory, and a helicopter circled our boat while we were many miles offshore to tell us to change our course. They then felt that they needed to follow up that we were exiting their waters and sent a boat to repeat the information to us. What were the French doing? Very suspicious.
