Location: Five Islands, Antigua

Hey everyone, we are currently on hour 19 of sailing to Antigua (almost there, hopefully). My day started early at 2 am with watch till 5 am. Time passed fairly quickly after Maddie and I completed the first boat check. Then our team was able to watch the stars and listen to Maddie’s music until 5 am when everyone eagerly went back to bed, passing watch on to team 3. Watch team 2 was definitely more lively during the tour’s second watch at 11 am; Chloe quickly took over aux from Eric, and Weston took over the helm, dismissing watch team 1 and starting our 2nd watch of this passage (hoping we make it to Antigua without having to do a third finger crossed). We passed the islands of St.Kitts, and Nevis, and Redonda on our watch. We raised the jib for some extra speed to bring us into Antigua. Halfway into watch, we gathered the crew for Ramen and salad, then had our 3rd ICC class on safety, where we learned about flares, the liferafts on board, and what to do in a man overboard situation. The crew has thoroughly enjoyed learning more about our home Ocean Star, which makes putting up the sails that much more exciting. We all had dinner at 6, which was made by Eric, Lucia, and Skye. The crew was in very good spirits, eating a great meal under the sunset, and after dinner, we were tacking towards Antigua (almost there!!!!)

Now we are all gathering in the salon for an EFR class, so I have to go. I love you so much, Mom and Dad. I can’t wait to see everyone when I get back and tell you all about it!

Skipper Suzette signing off!!!!!

EDITOR’s NOTE: Per Ethan’s blog, we are now in Antigua to ride out the storm in an abundance of caution after briefly considering riding it out in St. Kitts. The staff has spent a ton of time in Antigua, and as such, we have a bunch of fun things planned in one of our favorite islands in the Caribbean to make these last few days awesome. Apologies, the blog couldn’t post last night, as we had left Statia to head to Antigua and were in the middle of the ocean, so we had no service!
