Location: Underway to Union Island

Today started off early for watch team one, consisting of myself, Ben, Claire, Annika, Rhianna, and Will, with our first night watch from 12-3 am. The three-hour watch passed quickly, with the stars keeping us on course and some light rain helping us cool off after a warm day in the sun. At 3 am, we handed the boat over to watch team 2 (Allie, Mani, Max, Zoe, and Katherine) and went to bed. Coming up on deck, watch team 3 (Nick, Nadia, Chloe, Robert, Owen, Jaxson) reported dolphins and flying fish during the early hours of their watch. As the day progressed, it was time for everyone to fuel up on some chicken pesto salad. Lunch was followed by the science equipment lab, where we looked at the science equipment and learned how to use the needed equipment for their research projects. Some project ideas include testing if bait attracts different fish, SCUBA divers effect on fish behavior, and the urchin population in relation to depth. After Oceanography, the crew gathered on deck for Nautical Science with NICK!!!! (anchors, docking, mooring balls, and their composition). The day wrapped up with a delicious penne red sauce for dinner. During dinner, Owen spoon-fed Will while he drove the boat so I could get my food, and watches continued through the night. Today was SAVAGE Rihanna
