Location: Gorda Sound, BVI

Today was all about applying sailing knowledge! The morning was spent taking the coastal navigation exam. Following lunch, we moved on to Hobie cat racing. There was a lot of rain and not much wind, but the races continued nonetheless as the competitors used their skills of swimming, sailing, and sometimes sabotage to out-maneuver each other. After the races, we sailed the Hobies around Gorda Sound, checking out other boats and our beautiful surroundings. The weather cleared, and Simon made a great barbeque dinner, which was followed by the final communication class of the semester and a movie, “The Dead Poets Society.” After all the activity, Rose and Martha decided to sleep in hammocks on deck, as it was one of the last nights to take advantage of a unique Ocean Star sleeping experience. Sweet dreams, everyone.
