Location: UW to Lisbon
This morning was colder than the present; the rain was slight, but the winds were high. We put all the sails up for the first time in a while. The sunrise watch from 4-8 was wonderful. Hannah, Ophelia, and I talked about what we wanted to do in Portugal while Jerry and Max took their knot test. Noah found a new way of sitting by hooking his tether to the running backstay on the boat. Watch team three saw a pod of orcas for the first time.
Once our watch was over everyone headed down stairs and a tournament of sorts of chess began with Ophelia, Forbes, BryceBryce came out victorious. Lunch was a Caesar salad made by our wonderful chefs, Hannah and Giles. After lunch, classes began. During leadership, we had to present on a topic we were well-versed in within 2 minutes. The most memorable ones were “how to eat ice cream” by Nate, “packing for Vela” with Lorelai, and “how to immobilize Christian” by Alex. It was really fun to see what everybody was at. After leadership, we started that practice where everybody worked on more practice problems. Ellery, Lorelai, Stella, and I got a bit teary-eyed during it.
Dinner was a wonderful time that warmed everyone up. Forbes, Henry Ridge, and Max were all singing “How Far I’ll Go” by Moana while the gophers were setting up dinner. After dinner, my squeeze question was what vegetable or fruit, and it was funny to see what everyone saw their peers as. Nate said I was a ginger root because I’m ginger (this is false information).
After dinner, everybody went to their respective jobs and finished cleaning up. As of now, we are working on our projects, playing chess, and chatting it up.
Everybody is so excited for Portugal, and that we’re finally all sails up. See you tomorrow. WHAZZZZZZOOOOOO!!!!!
