Surprise Tricia!!! I’m back!
In a series of events that occurred, I somehow found myself as the blog writer once more. Although I was quite MIA today, running about Bequia, food shopping, and visiting one of my favorite grocery stores (shoutout to Doris), I have still received some great intel on the day’s events after my return. Our morning began with attempt number two by Alexis and his sous chefs at Brazilian cheese bread. Both the chefs and the shipmates were much more enthused with this rendition, although Alexis says it’s still not quite the same as the real thing, but was thoroughly enjoyed nonetheless. After breakfast, we got absolutely stuck into it for boat appreciation to get Ocean Star looking and smelling her best. The deck demons scrubbed every bit of dirt and grime off of the deck while the underworld (below deck) erupted into a Fabuloso scrubbing frenzy directed by today’s underlord, Heather. About halfway through the cleaning, I called on our chariot (Exy) for a mid-provision pickup of the food I had acquired from the first two stores of the day. I was greeted by Sean driving the dinghy, with Nick as his passenger, and they quickly grabbed all the bags and scurried back off to Ostar to squirrel everything away. After their departure, I headed to the fruit and veg stands, then off to see Doris. All the while, back on board, they were making their bunks with new clean sheets and scrub a dub dubbing the whole floor (sole? Smash? Freddie, is it a sole?). Soon after, my second chariot arrived at the dinghy dock, driven first by Nicholas and then back by Sydney. We unloaded all the fresh produce and fridge items and got them tucked into the newly cleaned fridge. Next up on the docket was a marine bio class where we learned all about marine worms, bryozoans, and mollusks, which are always a hit because of our lovely cephalapodian friends in phylum Mollusca (After marine biology, the shipmates headed to the beach with Nick for some leadership, team building beach games. Some crowd favorites were managing to build a raft out of fenders to get Waring and Dani to and from a catamaran right off the beach without touching the water. Pretty impressive, if I do say so myself. After beach games, the crew returned to a dinner of burgers and french fries. We are starting our advanced open water scuba course tomorrow, and in preparation, the students are going through some knowledge development in the saloon. Then it’s off to sleep to energize for our first day of advanced diving!
