Location: Gibraltar

Hello, friends and family! 🙂 We hope you are doing well without us.

Today was our first full day in Gibraltar. It’s weird waking up to so many non-ocean sounds and not having Vela rock you to sleep at night, but the land sure is a pretty sight. Gibraltar is a whole lot bigger than the Azores, though, and I definitely feel the difference. But that means there is so much more we are able to do!

We spent the first half of the day working on appreciating beautiful Vela. Everyone got new comfy sheets as well, and Emma stocked us with new provisions! (Amazing snacks to look forward to on those hungry watch hours) Speaking of good food, Flo, Runyon, and Michelle made us crepes this morning, and they were divine. We had a panic when we thought we had eaten all the Nutella but Emma made fools out of us by finding like seven more jars from who knows where. There’s a lot of hidden space on this boat.

After BA, we had free time! We showered, shopped, ran, strolled, and checked out the really cool city we have now found ourselves in.

We also had a guest lecturer this morning from the University of Gibraltar talk to us about Marine Science! We learned so much about this region of the world and how marine life is affected. It was really inspiring and made a lot of us solidify our feelings or develop new ones for Marine Biology.

Tomorrow, we face the monkeys!
