Location: Kadavu, Fiji

We’ve set off on our second 24-hour passage. As our time in Fiji nears the end, Argo will return to Port Denarau to prepare for our trip to Palau. The students plan to stock up on snacks and toiletries, as well as mentally prepare for three weeks at sea, three weeks on our watch schedules. Prepping for boat passage took a few hours, and after that, the 80-day students took a Marine Bio class. After lunch, we had Boat Appreciation. Basically, we deep-cleaned Argo to show her our love. What was really exciting was setting up three sails and turning off the engine. Argo is now fully at sail for about ten more hours.

Today was hot and humid, with slight rain throughout the day. Most of us have become grateful for freshwater showers and air conditioning. I know for a fact all of the students are looking forward to the only hot shower we will get this entire trip at Port. Within the past two weeks, I’ve become more mindful about my water consumption, waste output, the food I consume, and sharing a living space with 21 other people. I imagine there will be many ups and downs during the three weeks in Palau, but there will be many moments of growth and laughter that I look forward to.

It’s crazy to think that today is only day 14, as it feels like I’ve known everyone for more than just a couple of weeks. We’ve sailed about 300 nautical miles now, with thousands to come.

I miss you all, family and friends.
