Location: Port Denarau, Fiji
Hello!
Today, we arrived in Port Denarau safe and sound, thanks to watch teams one and two, who were up early to help dock. We arrived in port with many people excited about the promise of ice cream (you don’t realize how much you miss it until you spend two weeks in the sun without it).
We landed and walked around for a little bit before returning for a lovely lunch by Emily and Elanore and an oceanography class.
Most of the day was spent exploring the port and stocking up on snacks, which were essential for our upcoming passage. Big hits were chips, Cheeze-its, and, of course, chocolate.
We returned to the boat in the afternoon to help put away provisions. Try to visualize three weeks of groceries for 22 people, and whatever you have in mind, double it. Steph’s hype mix helped motivate us, and we were able to sort away carts and carts of groceries in no time. Shout out to Beck and Steph, who had to play fridge Tetris with our fruits and veggies. And shout out to Lexy, Casey, and Sydney, whose dance breaks on the salon benches really inspired us.
We went out for dinner, and everyone ended up picking the same Indian spot to go to. After dinner, we headed to the marina lounge for a sign-out night and sat around talking and enjoying the music that came on over the speaker. Tomer toasted to our upcoming passage.
The best part of the port has got to be the washing machines and showers. We all enjoyed feeling nice and clean before the three weeks ahead. There’s something about machine laundry that just feels different from the deck bucket laundry we had been doing. Smelling great and feeling even better, we all got to bed, excited to start our long journey tomorrow.
Bye for now!
P.S. Hi Mom and Dad!!
