Location: Petite Bayhuate

Petite Bayhuate!! This morning we had regular schedule wake ups at 7 am. Maddy, Isaac, and Shane woke up early and swam to the beach for some yoga to start their day. As always, Zac made pancakes for breakfast, which were so good. After breakfast and clean up, we got ready to go to a free dive spot. We all got into the dinghies and headed over. I didnt know what to expect when Calum said we were going to dive through bat caves, but it was so cool. The water was so clear and had a stunning blue color. The cave looked insane, it was a narrow opening that had sharp rocks at the top. We all jumped in the water and swam in. As we swam, it slowly got dark, and we could hear the high-pitched squeaks of the bats. The entire ceiling of the cave was covered in bats. We dove down and were met with a view looking out at the deep blue open ocean. The cave was about 40ft deep and had so many fish swimming in and around. This was one of my favorite dives so far.

When we got back to the boat, we had peanut noodles for lunch. Isaac and Eli had some dives to kit up for to finish up their certs and everyone else got to work on research projects. Isaac was attacked by a trigger fish. We all met in the cockpit for dinner and then got ready for a night dive. My dive buddy was Isaac, so we did our checks and got in the water. Diving at night was so cool. We say pufferfish, lobster, lionfish, and so much more. At one point, Meg had us cover our lights so we could see the glowing plankton in the water. After the dive, we broke down our kits, and that was the end of our day.
