Location: Haavai Bay, Huahine, French Polynesia

The day began with an early dispatch from Bourayne Bay. After arriving in Haavai, the crew began to gather all of the necessary items for the bike ride around the island of Huahine Nui to see sacred eels, beautiful beaches, ancient maraes, and exotic pearl farms only reachable by outrigger canoe. The sun was contained for the majority of the time we were on the boat. However, it seemed as though the minute our dinghy crept up to the dock, not a cloud could be seen in the sky. After a very scenic ride halfway around the island, my group of 4 found our way to a bayside bed and breakfast overlooking the most beautiful coast on the island. After two hours of conversation, coffee, and a glass of Coca-Cola followed by an exhuming “ahh,” we made our way back to the restaurant off the docks. Ice water and a fully consumed Marlin burger later became the most painful part of my day. The backflip, a test of testosterone and will demonstrated by both instructor and student, was met valiantly today by many members of the crew. Needless to say, some shall sleep with tender backs tonight. To my family, I love you and think of you every day. God Bless.
