Hi there! Vela had a lovely day on the Atlantic! With the engine off and sails up, we are so happy to have another day out here. Watch team 3’s day started on the 12-4 am watch, which gifted us absolutely beautiful stars (even Daniel got to see them in all their glory, as he borrowed Haley’s glasses to see what we were talking about-gotta love when someone else has the same prescription!). Wake-ups were especially exciting today at 3:30 am because we had a birthday on board! I got to wake up our birthday girl, Carolyn and then snuck back into her cabin to decorate after she went on watch. She had a very nice start to the day with a gorgeous sunrise and was even spot on with her forb guess (guessing the time that the full orb of the sun appears over the horizon). The morning passed by quickly, and before we all knew it, it was time for lunch- fajitas prepared by Heather, Haley, and Gigi. So delicious!
Afterward, the students had a crew with the birthday girl and the last leadership presentation of the semester! Wowzers, browsers, I can’t believe we are starting to wrap things up!
The rest of the afternoon was spent on watch, jamming out in the chart house, or taking some well-deserved nizzies (naps). Dinner was a play on boat charcuterie with some amazing naan bread. For squeeze, I asked everyone to tell us something that they are most proud of, and we, of course, ended squeeze by singing happy birthday to Cahrollin- her smile was big, and her face only turned a little red 🙂
The chefs then brought out berry pie and chocolate hummus for dessert! Incredible! With our stomachs completely stuffed, we headed into clean-up and another night on the water.
That’s all from our end hope you are all doing really well, and we will check in soon! Gibraltar, here we come!
