Location: Fiji to Palau

The day started with lightning surrounding Argo in almost all directions. Seven days into the passage, there are many hardships to endure. Chief among our struggles at sea is the scarcity of cereal. Though we are still nearly two weeks away from land, the cereal is almost completely gone. For lunch, we had sandwiches, cheesy grits, and leftover cookies from last night. After lunch, marine biology was up on deck. We were reviewing for our upcoming exam, so it was fairly uneventful. After a short break, seamanship was held down below. We learned a double sheet bend and continued learning all of the lines on the boat and their purpose. At dinner, morale picked up significantly. We had mac and cheese, potatoes, and asparagus. Dinner was accompanied by rain, but the food still tasted just as well. We then transitioned into the daily squeeze question: what animal would you want to be reincarnated as when you die? The answers ranged from horses to whales and albatrosses. All were very fitting. The post-dinner announcements were mostly centered around hygiene in a state of near-constant wetness (the notorious boat butt is apparently best dealt with through scratching) as well as how to deal with mid-cruise blues. Once chores were finished and wet foulies were hung up, we all wrapped up our day and got ready for bed.
