Location: Fiji to Palua
Today, we actually got some AC this morning after watch team one (our watch team), so we all slept really well till lunch. The rain got much lighter today as we headed into the doldrums. The sea-state also became so much more calm which works out better for everyone. Emily and I got to hang at the bow, and Beck did not lose any more plates. For lunch, Iain chefed up mash potatoes and lemon garlic chicken. The meal was successful, and many previously seasick people were able to get seconds for the first time on passage10/10 meal. After lunch, everyone got the best news: no class, aka FREE AFTERNOON! Spencer, Emily, and I watched the Lego Movie and munched on some Ritz crackers. Spencer spilled milk on the salon table, but it’s okay. We have a salon steward for a reason. Also, everyone got to do laundry today. Thank god, it was starting to get concerning in the cabins. Argo looks like a laundry boat right now. Last night, Lexy and Lainey had an encounter with a Boobie (a bird) on their watch shift. Lexy came out with a minor scrape, but she’s okay. Emily could hear Lainey scream from the cockpit in her own bunk. The Boobie sat on deck for the rest of the evening. By now, we reached a point of low wind since we are closer to the equator, so we are now motoring.
All the sails have been centerlined. Today, we are 4 degrees out of the equator. Everyone is so grateful for the dryer weather and breeze that came through today. Maybe the laundry Emily and I did five days ago will finally dry. Emily, Olivia, Beck, Addy, and I got to hang near the martingale for an hour with music, Oreos, and fruit rollups as the sunset. Iain made vegan veggie spring rolls accompanied with peanut sauce for dinner. Spencer pulled out sardines, and everyone moved away. Once he finished, we moved back. Oh, and this early morning at five am, watch team one go through our third act-it-out storytime. Joshua was the star of the show this time. Emily typed out this whole blog for Maverick while he told her what to write cause we are the best boat duo, duh. Tomorrow, he’s making a Denny’s breakfast buffet-pray for tomorrow’s saltie. Two photos are of everyone on deck, and one is of Emily typing. Also this is Emily, I want to say I miss Mom, Dad, Christine, Connor, Page, William, and all my friends who have been keeping up. Maverick’s entry: Hi, Mom and Dad and Brody! It is dark now, so im having trouble typing, but I miss you guys and am having fun here. ““we are 11 days out from Palau
