Today started off with an awesome breakfast of yogurt and granola. We then watched rescue diver videos and got to do a few knowledge reviews to get us closer to our rescue diver certification. After our videos, we had marine bio and learned about the worlds amazing coral reefs. Then we went snorkeling and got to see coral reefs up close, we had some free time before dinner and ate great spaghetti made by our chefs Little Ben and Big Ben. That wasnt it, though, because we got to hit the town for a little shore night out, where we sat down all together and had a spectacular time all together! Earlier today we unfortunately had to say a quick but very sad goodbye to our amazing Captain Drew, for many of us our first ever captain and the one that has made the biggest impact on our lives. Drew, along with the amazing staff of Ocean Star, took nine kids with hardly any knowledge of sailing and turned them into future Regatta champions. I cannot explain how lucky I am that I got to spend 52 days sailing and learning from Drew. Ocean Star will miss his contagious laugh, love of sea shanties, and amazing jokes. Words cant describe how amazing these past few months have been, and I speak on behalf of every crew member when I say we couldnt have asked for a better captain and are extremely grateful for the opportunity to sail with him. Today was full of bittersweet moments, but we all know it is for the best.
To family and friends reading, love you and miss you!!
