Today started off with an awesome breakfast of yogurt and granola, we then watched rescue diver videos and got to do a few knowledge reviews to get us closer to our rescue diver certification. After our videos we had marine bio and learned about the worlds amazing coral reefs. Then we went snorkeling and got to see coral reefs up close, we had some free time before dinner and ate great spaghetti made by our chefs Little Ben and Big Ben. That wasnt it though, because we got to hit the town for a little shore night out where we sat down all together and had an a spectacular time all together! Earlier today we unfortunately had to say a quick but very sad goodbye to our amazing Captain Drew, for many of us our first ever captain and the one that has made the biggest impact on our lives. Drew along with the amazing staff of Ocean Star took 9 kids with hardly any knowledge of sailing and turned them into future Regatta champions. I cannot explain how lucky I am that I got to spend 52 days sailing and learning from Drew. Ocean Star will miss his contagious laugh, love of sea shanties, and amazing jokes. Words cant describe how amazing these past few months have been and I speak on behalf of every crew member when I say we couldnt have asked for a better captain and are extremely grateful for the opportunity to sail with him. Today was full of bittersweet moments but we all know it is for the best.
To family and friends reading, love you and miss you!!
P.S. Drew,
We already miss you so much, please know that we have been listening to John Kanaka on repeat since you departed and will continue until the 80th day. We know youll be back soon so start studying Passagefruit- by Watch team 3 for our karaoke night!! Thank you for being our Captain. You mean the world to us. And always remember: Live Slow, SAIL FAST!! Sending much love!
