Location: Just outside Barbados
We’re 1200 hours into our transatlantic voyage and 888 of those have been spent underway. For every one of those hours someone has been at the helm of Argo, steering her on course. That’s pretty cool!
Watch team 1 saw the day in with the 24:00-04:00 watch, This may come as a surprise but its not everyones favorite watch, BUT saying that they
Nini, the head chef “YES CHEF!” was in the galley cooking up breakfast wraps (for lunch) with Zach and Talia, a relatively tame affair (Just you wait…) (Seriously) but dayum they were tasty!
As they cheffed away the likes of Kara, Maddie and Darien made appearances in the salon working away on their marine bio essays, deadline day innit.
After lunch the salon turned into a war room, charts covering every table, brows were beaded with sweat and lines were getting drawn with dividers in hand. Don’t fret, we’re not actually about to invade Barbados, its Just your typical afternoon NavMaster practical. Well, except for Isaac, he might actually invade, Just look at that battle stance. And Eli to be fair, thats the moustache of a seasoned USN Submariner.
Once the charts were rolled back into their tubes everyone got straight into Navy SEAL training with some wonderfully cheesy PADI Open / Advanced open water videos. I actually think they hired the actors from the Skymall magazines.
But seriously everyone is super excited to get into some diving once we hit Barbados, especially Talia who has some pretty extreme FOMO (fear of missing out) after our epic dive in St. Helena.
“Hands, I need hands!” does anyone else watch “The Bear” or is it just me? You wouldnt think that a meal of Chicken nuggets and chips would lead to scenes that can only be best described as 3 people playing “Operation” but the patients temperature is 375 degrees F. I was in the charthouse behind a sealed watertight door but I could still hear the chefs yelling (constructively to be fair) at each other over ABBA’s Dancing Queen as they whipped up 60 chicken strips, bowls of fried haloumi and ACTUAL chips (French Fries to the rest of you), Nini Zac and Talia, you have my heart, this was hands down the best meal ever.
Whilst that was happening Cecily was putting her new whipping skills (No not cream or Indianna Jones in the 80’s, its the art of wrapping fine string around the end of a cut rope to keep it from fraying, obviously….) by tidying up the ends of the line that everyone clips their Bluetooth speakers too, super important stuff guys. Its the rope of moral.
Benny’s so excited for Barbados that he’s been researching every possible activity we plan to get up too. He’s pretty stoked at the sound of a night of dancing.
Because Kiki is already dive trained she didnt need to sit in on the dive lectures so she got to run some sail handling whilst the staff took down the fish and the jib as the winds shifted. Some impressive stuff!
Sylver and Olympus leant a dab hand to some boat projects too, de and re caulking around the cockpit and some leather work too, creating protective covers for the “blocks” that the lines run through.
Jeez, so much happened today, Ive probably missed a whole bunch but to go back to dinner again, (i want those nuggets every day!) It was served up on deck with quite the serious backdrop. Golden rain clouds loomed down on us as everyone tucked in to their grub, oh and dinner was an hour and a bit late (Dammit Anne!) so we got straight into cleanup after before the heavens opened.
Its now 21:00, Watch team 1 currently have the helm and everyone else is below deck watching Disneys Tangled, Its Ben and Bennys favorite film.
Proof of (mostly) everything above is attached below,
Yours aye,
Dave
