Location: Underway to Lisbon
As we excitedly anticipate Portugal, we are all surprised by how fast the transatlantic went by. We are still making the most of our final days in passage, especially sunsets and sunrises, which is how watch team 3 (Christian, Oona, Alex, Ellery, Declan, Matt and I) spent our final 4-8am watch on the Atlantic. In the morning, our final days of passage luck manifested (sarcastic) with an anonymous/unknown crew member leaving the port head sink on, flooding the bathroom. Thankfully, no real damage was done, and Alex came to the rescue to shut off the water. Also thankfully, Velas spirits are too high, and that wouldnt ruin our day. After a wonderful lunch cooked up by Lorelai and her sous chefs Emma and Stella, we began our leadership class, where Alex and Ellory presented a suspenseful presentation on finding your inner personality. Finally, after leadership class, the final group of navigation tests was completed, where I think everyone tried their hardest While the majority of us waited in suspense for our grades, Lorelai began tomato soup with chicken grilled cheese for dinner, which ended in barely any leftovers; therefore, successful. After dinner, Mac announced, in contrast to the bathroom disaster in the morning, that the hot water tank has officially been fixed, which of course we are extremely grateful and excited for (especially me as a Floridian). However, we are curious how the parts to fix the tank have somehow been on the boat this whole time. As most of us get ready for night shifts, sleep, or morning shifts, the hot showers are a perfect end to the day and most likely will make the cold night shifts more bearable. Thank you, Mac and fellow staff 😀
