This morning on the 8-12 am watch, we on team one got more accustomed to one another, playing Madlibs, creating stories by each adding two words at a time (somehow every story seemed to involve onions in some way), and writing a nonsense song. The highlight was seeing flying fish on multiple occasions, and we were very surprised by how long they managed to glide through the air, often upwards of 10 seconds!
At noon, we had a fantastic lunch cooked by Rob, McGee, and Skylar, which consisted of grilled cheese, fresh tomatoes, and creamy mashed potatoes. After cleanup, we had our two daily classes back to back. First, Skylar and Sean led a class on leadership identity and the stresses of stepping into a leadership role. Today was the last day of student-led classes, and now we will move on to new, exciting, as-of-yet unrevealed things in leadership class. For marine biology class, Anna gave us a lecture on life in intertidal zones and played a part in a Blue Planet episode on the same topic. In our spare time for the rest of the afternoon, we worked on essays, studied our newly assigned marine organisms for our ID quiz, and team three had a “power hour” of squats, planks, pushups, and lunges.
Dinner was also excellent. It was pasta with sauce, ground beef, vegetables, and garlic bread. For the squeeze question, I asked people how they would want to be murdered and got some fun answers, such as getting air turned off during a dive, parachute cords cut before skydiving, or an Inigo Montoya-style duel with both participants meeting their demise (I took notes). Afterward, our resident Dive Master candidates studied with Stich, and Wednesday taught me Taekwondo.
That’s all for now! Much love to everyone at home 🙂
