Location: Roseau, Dominica
Today started with an early wake up at 6:45. Everyone got together to have breakfast and discussed how we were all going to go diving this morning in Dominica. We all piled onto one of Dive Dominica’s boats, and we were off! We got in the water at two locations: Witch’s Point and Champagne Reef. Each dive was incredible. At the first site, we swam along a reef wall, which made it look like we were floating along the side of a mountain with thousands of fish swimming past us. And on a personal note, I finally saw a lionfish today, which was a mission accomplished for myself. The second site (Champagne) was aptly named because of the geothermal activity that causes little streams of bubbles to come out of the seafloor and rise to the surface, making it look like we were swimming in a glass of champagne. Once safely back on Ocean Star, we all sat down to have delicious pesto pasta prepared by captain Ian while we were away. We had a leadership class after cleanup, then the rest of the day was spent relaxing and catching up on work. Tomorrow we’re going for a hike up to the Boiling Lake, which everyone is very excited about.
Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy the entry tomorrow!
