Location: Soufriere, St. Lucia
We departed at 0830 this morning to meet our cab driver James. James wisked us away to tour the beautiful surroundings and unique natural wonders of St. Lucia. The first stop was the sulfur springs and we actually drove into an active volcanic caldera. We saw bubbling sulfur pools and steam vents. Then it was off to the botanical gardens and Diamond falls. We were well informed of many of the native plants and their ethnobotanical uses. We even saw the mineral baths that Josephine Bonaparte is said to have bathed in. The last stop was at another waterfall where we all swam and soaked in the mineral pools. The afternoon was spent preparing for research diving the following and learning about the marine park we are presently in.
