Location: Galleon Beach, Antigua

After demolishing our oatmeal breakfast, we split off into groups for diving. Those in the midst of the open water course got their first “real” dives in, while those already certified did a fun dive over a rock formation called the Pillars of Hercules. The open water folks saw some eagle rays!
After we’d dried off and eaten lunch, we were shown all the nifty data collection equipment on the boat, from little tubes that measure salinity all the way to a giant net to catch plankton. Then folks relaxed (and by relaxed, I mean dug into our first oceanography paper) until around 5 pm.
For dinner, we all hopped in the dinghies and went to the nearby beach. We ordered from a local Indian restaurant and had a lovely picnic while watching the sunset.
All-in-all another marvelous day. Can’t wait to see what we get up to tomorrow!
