Location: Underway to Palau
As a part of watch team 2, my day began on the 1200 to 0400 watch this morning which is our infamous “witchy watch,” where we tell spooky stories and listen to true crime podcasts. Everybody on our watch team loves witchy watch except for Megan, who usually hangs out on bow watch during the podcast. Also, on our watch team, we saw 4 boats! During the day, we also saw a lot of logs and trees in the water, so we had to keep a very vigilant bow watch. Today has been quite the victorious day – the DMTs are (almost) officially DMs as they all passed their divemaster exam! Other victories were celebrated with the election results for our student-led passage that begins tomorrow. Kylie was elected as navigator, E as an engineer, Caleigh as chief mate, and Caroline as skipper. I am very excited and confident in our all-female team of leaders. Almost everybody gave a speech as to why they wanted to get any of the roles, which were interesting to listen to as well. We are all getting increasingly excited to reach Palau- and we are less than 3 days away now. We were told some of the things we will be doing in Palau and could not be more ecstatic. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to disclose future events, but basically, every day in Palau will be jam-packed. One of the downsides of passage coming to an end is the number of assignments we have due for the next few days. I think all of us have a form of senioritis, and our motivation for school work is slowly depleting as our excitement for Palau keeps building. All of us are having a great time on passage but are definitely homesick at times, and as much as we want to soak in every moment on Argo, we miss everybody back home and can’t wait to see you all and tell you all of our amazing stories. Being up on deck recently has been very calm and enjoyable because of how flat the water has been recent because there is almost no wind. Squeeze followed us all scarfing down Lolo’s yummy chicken pot pie, and the question I asked for tonight was what was a snapshot moment from your life where you were the happiest, and very heartwarming answers were shared. Tonight is our last watch rotation before the student-led passage, so stay tuned for how that will go!
I miss you, mum and dad and I cant wait to see you!
And to Bridget, it’s not the same without you! We miss you!
