Over the last few nights, more and more people have been deciding to sleep outside in hammocks instead of below deck due to the heat. This proved a little too effective when last night it started to pour, and everyone came rushing back to their beds. After that abrupt start to the day, we ate blueberry muffins and yogurt for breakfast. Since getting everyone certified for scuba diving is currently a priority, all of the uncertified people took their final tests and learned how to set up their gear. We’re all looking forward to getting to use these newly learned skills soon. After lunch, we got to go on a hike for the first time since coming here. For legal reasons, I will instead call it a therapeutic walk with our family. This isn’t far from the truth, as it really does seem like we are becoming a family. Our hike ended at a beautiful tide pool which everyone loved looking around in. While we were there, we were privileged enough to have staff members who could teach us about all of the things we were seeing. We saw sea urchins, a flounder, and many different crabs and fish that I had forgotten the names of. Once we got back, we all had a break before dinner. As always, the conversations went somewhere random, and we all learned that Lucia used to eat bread with just ketchup on it. All in all, it was a fantastic day, and I can’t wait for the next one.
