To be honest, when the day started, I asked myself if I was bringing bad luck to the boat when I was skipper, especially after the last Murphy Day. I asked myself that question when the hydraulic pump that brings the anchor up stopped working. I could already see us 2-6ing the very, very heavy anchor all the way up Not to make it better, while the staff was trying to repair the pomp, we got sent down below for our breakfast (a great breakfast by the way), which meant we had a few friends with us. I dont know if anyone has presented those new roommates to you yet, so I am going to do it. For about a week now, the salon and the galley have seen a small invasion of flies and bugs of all kinds. (Yes Mum, even on a boat, my students accommodation gets invaded by flies they love me too much apparently).
So, you can guess that after such a morning, I was not optimistic. But I should have, because of rest of the day went great. The water pump got fixed, and even if the bugs and flies are still there No, actually, I cannot find anything positive about the flies, sorry. But except for that, the day was great!
We got to practice our rescue driver skills, which include towing unconscious divers while giving them rescue breaths and getting them on the dinghy by ourselves. If you read the title, you probably know what is coming here We basically spent two hours getting waterboarded again and again. GG had a pretty hard time staying dead while Marie was towing her, while the salmon-sized Molly was not that far from killing Oli while trying to get him out. But out of all of them, I can say I got an especially harsh treatment. It took about ten minutes for Adaiah to get me on the dinghy, ten minutes I mainly spent getting dank down again and again. One thing is sure: my sinuses are fully cleared now! That did not keep me from volunteering as a victim for the first group rescue, which got me a VIP spot for the CPR. Charley, Oli, I think you actually have resurrected the dinghy.
We went back in the afternoon for more rescue diving skills, under the water this time, and let me tell you one thing: if we ever lose a diver we are not finding him back. I think that out of the six buddy groups, only one group got successful in the recovery skill. Ouspie as we say!
I am not going to keep going for long, first because the story of the day is pretty much finished, but also because we are going on a sign-out tonight, and it would be a shame to shrink it even more by being late
Bisous tout le monde, dans cinq jours!
