Welcome back to another day aboard Vela!
This beautiful morning started with a fruit bake as breakfast prepared by our student’s chefs. After that, the students went directly into another day of diving to get their advanced certificate. The students had an introductory class to marine biology, which this blogger finds absolutely fascinating, mostly because our staff is so passionate about what they are teaching. During the first dive, we had the chance to explore a coral reef filled with fish and see all of our friends have a great time in the water! We also had the chance to apply what we had just learned about the world that lives right beneath us.

After this dive, we had lunch, which was some chicken wraps. Yummy, yummy! Not long after, the students went back to learning how to navigate underwater. We put that skill into practice and went for the second dive of the day.

A super fun activity that took place was the students and staff placing clothes pins on each other, trying to do it in a manner that the other person did not notice. It has become harder and harder for people to do so, but may the best person win…

Finally, at the end of the day, given that we are allowed to get our phones back tonight, students made a pack to keep them in their rooms if necessary to ensure that we all continue to live in the moment!

Now, the crew is finishing up dinner, which will be followed by ocean showers and a short oceanography class to collect samples. Can’t wait to see the results!

Until next time!
