WAAASSSUPPP everyone!
Somehow it’s already that time again for me to be writing the blog, even though it feels like I was Skipper yesterday, but you know what they say, time flies [getting hacked in 3,2,1] except for when your with Lucia Dookie Cutler because she likes Frutti Swirl better than gelateria love and she is a freaking furry for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (<– that was Zooxanthele Davies’s addition folks, give the literary genius a round of applause). Yes, I do think Frutti Swirl is better than Gelateria Love (the gelateria we have been living at for the past four days). Although I respect the pun, Frutti Swirl has more variety (smoothies, ice cream, and frozen yogurt?!) yet maintains its quality and is on every block, making it hyper-accessible. As soon as you’re done with one cup, there is another Frutti Swirl to hand you another.
Rant aside, we woke up to pancakes, courtesy of lil’ Allie, straight out of an iHop commercial. After breakfast, we started passage prep, then moved back to our home, cockroach dock, to refuel. After an oceanography class, we headed back to the Boujie dock and were released for some final shore time. The girls got lunch together, while the boys attended a four-course two hour Italian dining experience. We soaked up the last hours of stable Mauritius by walking around and, naturally, getting gelato. Zoe said that the women working there smile brightened when she told them it was our last visit. We made our final calls, college course selections, and watch teams were released, stirring the pot as we stirred Allie’s alfredo sauce. After a five-minute standing ovation from the cooking crew, we ate. It’s shore days like these that make Vela feel more like a family — we come back together for dinner and share stories about our separate days, all happy to be back in the presence of the crew.
