Hello to the friends and family of Ocean Star!
Today was another amazing day, perhaps one of the best yet. We started our first full day in Grenada with a typical 7 am wake-up, followed by a delicious breakfast and our first marine biology quiz after this. We had an oceanography lecture and a lab to introduce us to some of the epic science equipment on board and start us thinking about our semester-long research projects. We had a bit of free time before lunch, which we, of course, spent playing cards, and then a delicious lunch of tofu and veggies before leadership class and then the long-awaited shore time. We got shuttled over to a small dock on a beautiful beach and quickly made our way to a local mall for some souvenir shopping and snacks. Then, we went back to the beach for some chicken fighting in the crystal clear water and hanging out on the sand before heading to a local spice market. We got changed and ready for a sign-out night, where we went to a local beach bar for some dinner and drinks before shuttling back to the boat for a late-night swim and hanging out in the cockpit before bed.
