Howdy, Lulu, and Kylie here!

We are taking over for our professor, Queen Heather. Therefore, this blog will be dedicated to her and Grandma Duckie. We started off the day by pledging allegiance to Madam Ocean Star and hoping she wouldn’t send us to Davy Jones’ locker during our passage today. Once we got that out of the way, we dug into some scrumptious french toast, a delicacy made by our very own chef Katie. Next, we bit our nails and tapped our toes because we were soooooo nervous about Sam’s Oceanography quiz. As soon as the quiz wrapped up, we gathered in the cock pit to assign roles for sailing. We hoisted 5(five!) sails, our most yet on this journey we call life. We were supposed to begin sailing right after our quiz, but the engine fell out, so we had to wait for Nick to fish it out of the water (aka Captain Nick replaced a belt, and then we were good to go:). After our momentary delay, we went underway to Bequia. Thankfully this time, Lulu didn’t throw up (I(Kylie) hate when she does that). Even though we were sailing, Katie persevered and made us burgers(very yummy) with homemade rolls. After lunch, we(Lulu and Kylie, separately) took a nap, so we didn’t know what happened. It sounded like a lovely afternoon. We’re gonna wrap this thing up because it’s way past our bedtime, but just know that we are still having a fabulous time aboard OS.

XOXO,
Gossip Girls

And a note from Heather here: I always love a sailing day, but today was exceptional. The winds were particularly in our favor, and as Ash would say, “the penny has dropped” for many of the students. Handing over the lead to eager shipmates on processes such as raising the anchor and each of the sails was incredible to see. Getting the flying jib (FJ – our most forward sail) up for the first time this trip was another fun treat. En route to Bequia, we were able to sail nearly the entire day with the engine off and just the sound of the wind and sea spray (apart from my hour-long solo sing-along on the helm during cleanup). We got into our new home and our last stop in SVG just before dinner. This allotted us time to swim in crystal clear water and watch a beautiful sunset. What a warm welcome from Bequia.
