Location: Underway to Lisbon
I started my morning with the rest of watch team 3 (Oona, Declan, Wilkes, Alex, Christian, Matt, and Emma) at midnight for the 12-4 watch. Within the first 10 minutes, Hannah came and told us there were bioluminescent dolphins in the water, which was really cool. We broke up the rest of our watch by getting a different snack after every boat check. At 1:00 we had Cheez-its, and at 2:00 and 3:00 we had trail mix. Alex, Wilkes, and Christian made some ramen, and you couldnt see the color of it because it was dark outside, but by the way it smelled, it was most definitely bright orange (Christian claims it was black though, which Im not sure is much better). During the 4-8, everyone on watch team 1 made ramen. Then we slept until 12 and had lunch. Wilkes, Mac, and Jerry made fried rice, which was so good.
After cleanup, we had leadership with Emma and talked about different perspectives that people can have on situations. As we got ready and sat down for nav master, Nate ran through the door holding Macs fire pillow, screaming fire (signifying a drill). I have never seen him so giddy before. Declan, Giles, and Ellie got to pull the fire alarms, which they were all really excited they got to do. We all grabbed our gumby suits and Type 1 PFDs and split up into our different stations on deck. Watch team 1 got the fire hose, watch team 2 got all emergency water and first aid supplies, and watch team 3 took the sails down. Eventually, Mac decided to switch emergencies, and we had to prepare to abandon ship. He said we did a good job but then rated us with a C+. Once everything was put away, we went back down and had nav master and did a few practice problems.
For dinner, the chefs made tacos and also some of the tuna that we (Stella and Lorelai, not Henry and Fin) caught the other day. For squeeze, we talked about what we would fill our pools with if we could fill them with anything. Answers ranged from LaBarge hats to raw eggs. Emma said raw eggs. There was no winner or loser to this question, but if there was, she definitely lost (we love Emma though). Stella and I made brookies as a celebration because today we reached the halfway point of our passage to Lisbon, which is crazy. Its also starting to get warmer, which is nice, and we dont have to wear three sweatshirts under our foulies for watch anymore.
Hi Mom and Dad and everyone reading this, love and miss you!
