Location: Union Island, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines

It is day ten on our Ocean Star voyage. As usual, on passage, our day started early and on a very odd schedule. For Watch Team 3 (Owen, Robert, Nadia, Chloe, Nick, and I), our day started at 3 am for the sunrise boat watch. The sunrise this morning was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen when we werent fighting to keep our eyes open. We were lucky enough to spot a dolphin swimming beside the boat right at sunrise!
After a short nap for watch team 3, the crew was all back on deck for breakfast (Wonderful Banana Bread courtesy of Robert, Zoe, and Owen) as we sailed into the waters of Union Island to supply aid to those still on the island. Union was hit by hurricane Beryl, a category 5, which leveled almost all structures on the island. Those who are still on the island are in dire need of any and all basic aid.
Once we dropped anchor in Union, we loaded the dinghies with the aid and supplies and brought them to the dock. There were multiple boats also bringing supplies to the island, but not enough to begin to compare to the extreme visible damage all along the coast.
We also had our first Oceanography Quiz today! Everyone did very good and the class is going wonderfully (besides taking it in the 100 degree sweat dungeon).
Then, one of the best moments of our day, our Ocean Shower! Being on passage, we had not showered in a couple of days, and it was definitely starting to show. We were finally on anchor in Union and had the opportunity to. Everyone was having withdrawals from the ocean, and we stayed in as long as we could.
Unfortunately, right after our wonderful showers, it was time to sweat again. We began raising the sails to get underway to Dominica.
Once we were sailing, we broke out a great dinner (once again courtesy of Robert, Zoe, and Owen), sang Max Happy Birthday!!!!, and prepared for our passage night watches once again.
P.S. – Happy Birthday Max!
