Location: Underway to Caribbean
After waking up early to wake up before waking the other people up, I gave out orders to meet up on the deck to receive further instructions for passage prep. People came up in waves, and I sent them out to do different jobs when they showed up. We got most of the main tasks done, and Grace N and Luke came up to me when they finished their designated tasks, which then convinced some of the others to do so as well. It helped that I was also making rounds throughout the whole boat to check in on jobs and get the people taking longer to get up to move faster. We managed to finish all the tasks on deck that needed tending before breakfast. Then, after making sure people were working towards making the downstairs 40/40, we had time to kill as we waited for the last of the provisioned food to arrive by delivery. During that time, we got to shower and get our last snack/store run before the food was delivered. Max and I also threw the football around for a while. I had also hit the showers with Dan, James, and Edwardo. From there, Eliza joined us, and we went to grab some snacks and drinks for the passage before we went back. When the food finally arrived, a chain of people formed from the van to the boat, bridging the gap between the boat and the dock. This line made it much easier to bring the provisions onboard since the food was passed hand to hand down into the salon, where it was also easier to move around with fewer people within the salon trying to move in all directions. This allowed everything to get unboxed and sorted into its perspective areas in record time. Even though it was only the end bits of provisioning, it was not our smallest provisioning event. Anyway, after we finished that up, we shifted our focus back over to the passage prep. We pulled the docking lines back onto the boat and started to make our way through the harbor. The few final items that couldnt get checked off until then, due to what was needed to complete them, finally could get checked off. We had marine biology class after staying on deck watch us leave the last port we would see for a long time. In class, we went over the current ailments that are currently besieging our coral and the repercussions on the environment if these ailments were to be left alone to continue to be as bad as they are or to become even more severe. From marine biology, we went right into oceanography to finish up the personal presentations created for our last assignment. From there, we went back into our watch rotations, with my watch team being the current one on duty. Then we had a fire drill, and we practiced what our respective teams oversaw, with the exception that everyone got to practice shooting the firehose off the deck and switching between its different modes. After, we went back to either watch, chill, study, or cook until it was time for dinner. After dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to Grace C again before the cake was brought out with candles.
