Location: Gorda Sound, Virgin Gorda, BVI

Today I was Skipper, and it came with many benefits. I was able to lead the crew and direct everyone to the right place at the right time. The day started with overcast rain, which made everyone desperately want a nap. Following a close-knit breakfast down in the Salon, the crew got ready to make sail into Gorda Sound after a few lectures on Seamanship and scientific writing. We all made great progress in our knowledge of the ropes and developed a better sense of where different lines live on the deck. Everyone is starting to understand where he or she needs to be. At the time, they need to be there. After we pulled into the channel, we all enjoyed a great taco night. However, the best part of the night was the squeeze. The squeeze helps the crew better understand who we are as individuals, and tonight was a particularly interesting conversation. The students, along with the crew, are all getting to know each other better and better as the day progress. There is absolutely no place like Ocean Star!
