Location: Nelson's Dockyard, Antigua
We arrived in Antigua from Les Saintes around midnight. The passage was very smooth because all of the wind and swells were being sucked up north by the passing hurricane. We happily sat in Falmouth harbor for the night with little to no wind, so anchor watch was stress-free. After we had a delicious breakfast of homemade cinnamon rolls baked with love by Ivy and Sydney, we picked up anchor and motored around the corner into Nelsons Dockyard. The conditions were favorable, so our first mate, Hurricane Tor, tried her hand at landing Ocean Star side-to the dock. It was a perfect landing, if I do say so myself, and everyone got their lines off to the dock without a hitch. Once on the dock, we broke into a massive boat appreciation to get Ocean Star back to her almighty glory. The shipmates were enticed with a special surprise that you can only get while in Antigua. After an all-star lunch of pizza bagels, we broke the news that the surprise was the one-of-a-kind experience of Shirley Heights! The shipmates get it all. A small dinghy ride, a short scenic hike, a barbecue, a live band with steel drums, and, to top it all off, a dance floor. It seems that it is the place to be on Sunday nights, and a large portion of the tourists and locals are all there, making for a great night. For some of the shipmates, the hike up was a little more strenuous than desirable after getting all dolled up for a night out, but everyone ended up not wanting to leave by the end of the night and had one of the most memorable nights of the trip! – See more at http://www.seamester.com/blog/category/ocean-star-summer-bvi-dominica-2013/#sthash.dwVB1iwz.dpuf
