Location: Underway to St. Lucia
Today was another beautiful day on the high seas. We are only a few days away from St. Lucia, and everyone is getting excited for land. This morning, watch team 2 did some sail handling on the 8-12 shift. They put the first reef in the main sail and then jibed. Head chef Lukas made pasta salad for lunch with sous chefs (other) Mac and Talia. We followed lunch with a competitive game of Jeopardy to prepare for our oceanography final, which is coming up. Team Pumpkin (Cat, Chloe, Luke, Theo, Lillian, Talia, and Grace N) were the winners. Then Ben led us in some review for our Emergency First Responder course, and we took the written test. Later in the afternoon, Eduardo shaved off Jamess beard with steady hands, leaving him with a luscious stache. Otherwise, the afternoon was quiet, with sporadic drizzles and people studying. For dinner, the galley team cooked a delicious chicken bake with rice on the side. During dinner, we were lucky enough to be joined by a red-footed booby who flew alongside Vela, hunting for flying fish. Mac was lucky enough to be pooped on by the booby. Also attached is a photo of James and I flaking the flying jib yesterday.
