Location: Tobago Cays, Grenadines
Hello friends and family!
It’s safe to say we all slept well last night after a day of studying and seeing carnival in Carriacou. We woke up ready to set sail to Union Island and the Tobago Cays, with the help of delicious pancakes made by Tye, Gus, and Marin. It was then time to start our short passage. In preparation for the Antigua Classics, we timed how fast the 16 of us could get the sails up. With the goal of under 20 minutes, we did it in a whopping 14.5 minutes! We had a leadership class while underway, which is always a fun discussion. As we got closer to our destination, the water got bluer and bluer. But when we finally anchored between the tiny islands of the Tobago Cays, our faces lit up at the sight of the most beautiful water we’ve seen this trip. Several turtles greeted us, poking their faces up towards Ocean Star as we got settled. Next, we dinghied to a tiny island nearby to learn about taking scientific surveys while diving. This was the best part of the day because we got to snorkel at the beach, getting friendly with the turtles, sea stars, and other marine life. Our day ended with a scrumptious dinner of homemade black bean burgers and potatoes while watching the majestic sunset. Some even witnessed the “green flash”!
Thanks for following our adventures and talk to you tomorrow,
Dory
