Location: St Vincent
We were all very saddened to leave our beautiful temporary home in Bequia and pick up the anchor. However, the melancholy only lasted as long as the sunrise, and soon the magnificent sights of St. Vincent consumed our minds. As we motored closer to land, the final few rollers smacked and splashed up against Velas hull.
The boobies were using Vela to hunt, as weve seen before; they cruise alongside us until Vela spooks up a school of flying fish, then swoop down to catch them either mid-air or down to 10 feet below the surface.
After our morning entertainment, we pulled into Petit Byahaut in St. Vincent. Unfortunately, there were already two other boats in the anchorage, and with it being such a small bay, we werent sure if we were going to fit. After doing a quick reconnaissance in the dinghy, we pulled in, dropped two anchors at the mouth of the bay, and backed in between the two boats until we were close enough to reach our large kedge line tied to a tree on shore.
Its a beautiful spot, but a shallow one! It was so strange to see Vela sitting so close to the bottom when we jumped in with our masks on. The water here is incredibly clear; we can see straight to the bottom even at night with only Velas floodlights on.
After lunch, we continued our Advanced Open Water dive course by completing our Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) dive. That was such a blast. We cant wait to see what else this little bay has in store for us!
