Location: Saba

Today started out early and a little chaotic as we all tried to get ready for a lot of different activities. Half of the group was going diving in the morning, while the other half was gearing up to wade ashore to a set of stone steps, at the top of which they would find a road leading into one of the main towns on Saba called The Bottom. The dive group saw nurse sharks and beautiful corals while the group ashore climbed higher and higher through Sabas winding roads to find snacks and glass trinkets. A lot of the roads here took 10-20 years to complete, and when you see the terrain its understandable why. On the main road leading up from the dock, theres a large poster for Sabas triathlon, named after one of their towns – Hells Gate. The slogan at the bottom reads, Even the swim is uphill.
After a successful swap, the morning dive group made their way ashore while the rest of us set off on the dive boat for a two-tank dive. The two sites that we went to were amazing. We also saw the two nurse sharks that live in the area, as well as some amazing elkhorn coral and my favorite fish – the smooth trunkfish. As we all came back together onboard our boats for dinner, everyone had so many stories to compare about what had happened throughout the day, from the locals wed interacted with to little details from each dive. As much as we enjoyed Saba, were all super excited to get underway at St. Barths tomorrow morning and explore a new place!
