Location: Canal De Ibiza, Mediterranean Sea

Around 8 am this morning. We shared a big moment as a crew after crossing the world all the way from the BVI. We crossed the Prime Meridian! We woke up most of the crew and had a watch party, along with a countdown. Which strangely enough reminded me of a New Year’s party, screaming, and excitement for a split second moment then moving on with our lives. Ines and Jack were on bow watch and were the first people on Vela to cross into the Eastern Hemisphere. Then after some good quality rest after my watch this morning, we had some lovely pasta for lunch, thanks to Fitz, Savanna, and Case. While everyone was off doing their jobs, Calum and I had good conversations about how our parents met and the clouds. It was a good conversation that reminded me of the little things that make me, happy along with how much I love and miss my parents. And I’m sure that’s how most of everyone here feels. This trip has also made me realize how okay I am with not being at home. It has instilled a need for adventure and to see the world. This feeling was also increased after a very inspiring leadership class where we talked about what we believe our calling is, along with what things make us happy and add purpose to our lives. This class had me thinking about everything that I have ever wanted to do. It also made me think about Leoni. Leoni is a very strong, kind woman who inspires me very much. She resembles a lot of the type of person I hope to be, she’s fierce, passionate, thoughtful, kind, and she inspires others. All of these words also describe Brianne. Both of these women inspire me to strive to improve myself every day, to do what I am passionate about, and aspire to achieve my biggest, most outrageous dreams.
In Leoni’s class, she reminded me of all the things I love and want to pursue, along with all of the things I wish to do in my lifetime. Enough ooo-gooey heartfelt words, this afternoon in seamanship, Calum taught us more about navigation and bearings, which I love learning about because, before this trip, I never would’ve thought I would have ever known a single thing about. After classes, I got some good quality time with Leoni, Tom, and Paige. We talked about many things, made many jokes, and committed the perfect crime, which I will never speak of ever again besides Tom trying to accuse me of being guilty of the crime when I was simply the accomplice. Then this evening, we had a lovely chili dinner along with toast. And at squeeze, I made everyone give a small appreciation of someone who has improved the quality of this trip. Many very kind things were said, and it made me happy to positively impact people’s days. I gave my appreciation to Alexa even though I could’ve given it to about 10 people, but I gave it to her because she improves my day every day, and she’s there to support me any time I need her. She is also a great conversationalist and makes every watch a good watch. We then had a moment of silence to reflect on this passage since hopefully, tomorrow, we will be docked in Tarragona, Spain! Thank you for your time!
