Hello once again, all you lovely people back home. It has been 16 days since we last spoke, and I hope you all are doing well. Today was a bit of a busy day, especially for us staff on board, but it all started with breakfast. Hannah K and crew cut up some of our new, fresh, beautiful pineapples and mangos (after a few weeks with limited access to fruit, they tasted like candy). Shortly after this, we dropped all of the students onshore to do their last day of exploring around the Island. The staff team then immediately launched into recovering our kedge anchor, which had become very happy staying in the sand. In total, it took around 9 hours, 4 dives, and getting a little creative to finally retrieve the anchor. I personally have never been more relieved than when I saw that anchor come up. Overall, today was a success. Around this time, the students were ready to get picked up from shore and headed straight for some ocean showers. The night went smoother than the day, nice sunsets and great food rounded off our tumultuous adventures. The morale on Vela is sitting nicely and high ahead of our last stretch of the Atlantic!
