Today was exhilarating! Following a delicous breakfast of crepes prepared by Emma and Logan, we set out to learn how to sail on small keel boats. The weather was sunny and bright, the water was warm , the wind was perfect ands spirits were high. We set off in groups of four and sailed all around Gorda Sound, maneuvering sails, increasing speed and gybing. Everyone was elated after learning to apply their new sailing knowledge and skills. We returned to a yummy lunch of BLT’s and quickly prepared for an afternoon of races and fun with Hobie Cats. We all went to a nearby beach and divided into three groups for races. Each group won a race once, and I am proud to say that no one tipped their hobie while racing. It was a day of smooth sailing all around. After the races, some stayed on the beach to play in the water and relax, while others headed out on the Hobie Cats for more sailing practice. Everyone was back on the boat and hungry for Emma and Logan’s mouth watering lasagna dinner. Following dinner came the first class of Student Leadership when everyone discussed their goals for the semester. Overall, we all enjoyed a fantastic day of learning and playing.
